Instructions:

1. Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and shape them into 3 oz balls.

2. Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat.

3. Place the balls of beef onto the preheated skillet or griddle. Use an offset spatula to press down on each ball, flattening the meat as much as possible.

Use the flat-edge of a second spatula to press the first spatula down, ensuring the meat is flattened evenly. Season the beef patties liberally with salt and pepper.

4. Quickly arrange the thinly sliced onions evenly over the patties on the skillet or griddle. Press down with the spatula to embed the onions into the meat.

5. Let the burgers cook undisturbed until they are well-browned, which should take about 2 minutes. The recommended internal temperature for a medium-rare hamburger is around 130-135°F (54-57°C).

6. Carefully flip the burgers over so that the onions are now on the bottom. Let them cook for about 1 minute, allowing the onions to start to soften.

7. If you prefer, top the patties with cheese slices and wait until cheese is melted.

8. At the same time, toast the hamburger buns until they become slightly crispy.

9. Now you are ready to assemble the burgers and add your desired toppings.Serve the Oklahoma Fried Onion Burgers immediately while they’re still warm. Enjoy with fries!
